1. Overview

The Way of Enlightenment (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) is a free companion to a three-book enlightenment series. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the app, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

When you register and use the app, we collect and store:

• Account information: your email address, used to create and verify your account and sign you in.
• Your content: the reflections, journal entries, and food/herb intake logs you create. Voice recordings you attach are stored as audio files linked to your account.
• Reading progress: which chapters and journey steps you have marked as read, so your progress persists between visits.
• Contact messages: the name, email, and message you submit through the contact form.
• Testimonials: the name, optional context, and quote you submit for review. These are only published once an administrator approves them.
• Usage data: anonymised or aggregated page-view counts used to understand which parts of the app are visited. Where an IP address is used to derive a unique-visitor identifier, it is hashed and not stored in plain text.

3. How we use your information

• To provide your account, save your reflections and journal, and restore your progress each time you return.
• To operate the in-app shop and fulfil purchases of the complete book manuscripts.
• To respond to messages you send through the contact form.
• To review and, where approved, publish testimonials you submit.
• To improve the app through aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics.
• To maintain the security of the platform and detect abuse.

4. Your reflections and journal are private

The reflections and journal entries you write are tied to your account and are visible only to you. No other member or visitor can read them. Administrators cannot read the contents of your reflections or journal.

5. Payments

Purchases in the in-app shop are processed through Base44 Payments (powered by Wix Payments). Payment card details are handled entirely by the payment provider and are never seen by or stored on the app. We receive only an order reference, the product purchased, and the amount paid, so we can grant access to what you bought.

6. Amazon affiliate links

Some collections in the app (such as crystals, minerals, foods & herbs, and the elements) include links to Amazon so you can source physical items. As an Amazon Associate we may earn a small commission from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no additional cost to you. Amazon does not share your purchase or payment details with us.

7. Data retention and your choices

We keep your account information and your content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated content at any time from the in-app Settings page; deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you have made a purchase, we retain a minimal record of that transaction as required for accounting and to honour any access you have paid for.

8. Cookies and analytics

The app uses essential session storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We use platform analytics to count visits and page views in aggregate; we do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to third parties.

9. Children

The app is intended for adults and young people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us so the account can be removed.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the “last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
